LEADERSHIP IN MAJOR INITIATIVES
Within ICID’s mandate is the role of strengthening Canada’s infectious diseases contribution to the world, by building and coordinating its community of organizations through major projects, such as vaccine development. ICID seeks out opportunities to establish large-scale research-based projects that involve drawing together the best scientists and technologies that Canada has to offer. Using our networks and contacts across Canada, ICID provides unparalleled capability to assemble teams and develop new concepts in pioneering research projects.

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
ICID delivers training courses and educational services in biosafety, laboratory facilities management, and development of expertise related to infectious diseases. We assemble teams of specialists from across Canada and elsewhere to provide training for students from around the world, taking advantage of Canada’s unique capabilities and facilities to raise international standards for biosafety and biosecurity. ICID continues to expand its offering of high containment laboratory courses through its collaboration with others in the Canadian Biosafety Training Partnership. (www.biosafety.ca).

SUPPORT FOR RESEARCHERS AND PUBLIC HEALTH
ICID provides management services to enable scientists, technicians and infectious disease researchers, enabling them to obtain funding, administer their projects, and work collaboratively. We provide financial management, contract services, event management and support in areas like commercialization and licensing to permit researchers to concentrate on their advancement of science, knowledge exchange and product innovation. In this role, ICID hosts the National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases, one of six such centres supported by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
